Luke had many beautiful attributes. His larger than life personality will leave a lasting mark on everyone he touched, but life was a struggle for him. Luke was loved by his family and friends and we will miss him dearly.

I had known Luke as a childhood friend. He was my next door neighbor on burnhill road. He moved there, so far out into the woods, I think when I was about 12. We were the same age and, though the houses were quite far apart, became friends immediately. We did so much together. I remember when his father, Steve, invested into the Cambel house on the Southill. It was such an exciting moment.

As we kept growing his parents divorced and they eventually moved out of their house, Luke going over to the Seattle area to be with his uncle and spend time away from problems with his father. Years later, I saw him again at a movie store in Spokane, so different from how I had remembered him when we were day-to-day friends. He was quiet and reserved. My father and I only spoke to him for a moment but he told us that he was in the Navy.

My father and I were on horrible terms at that time (and worse now) and pretty much everyone from my childhood had seemingly disappeared or moved away, so that was a nice surprise. My family went through basically the same story so I had fealt like I could relate. He had a lot of promise to him and, as a friend, I had been concerned about him in his family struggles and how he was doing; how he was then that so much time had passed.

I later moved to Seattle myself and then to Europe, where I still live.

As we all get older we sometimes think about childhood friends and wonder what happened to them. I have thought about looking for him on Facebook and Myspace a few times but never found him. To share news and learn about the "adult" lives we lead. Only now did I think about extending my search to Google and including tag words like Spokane.

When I saw the page name, I wasn't sure I had spelled Luke's last name right, but when I saw his picture I knew instantly that it was him.

Luke, you had so much potential my friend! So much strenght and love! I will never forget you, my friend. It saddens me greatly to know you are gone. You had the bluest eyes I think I have ever seen, and were a real fighter.

Rest in peace.

Lucas, my older cousin, only by a couple of months was one of my best friends. Being around Luke always kept me on my toes, but he was always there for me when I needed him. I wish I could have been there for him in his last moment of need. People dont realize how much this has affected me in my daily life, but Im doing what I can to turn it into a positive, letting everyone I know or anyone I meet know how important and special they are to everyone. Luke had a smile you could never forget, and could make you laugh on a drop of a dime. He gave the greatest bear hugs and always made you feel special. I miss him everyday and think about him constantly. I dont know if Ill ever get over the loss of my Lucas, but I know he will always be looking over me and his loved ones. I love you Luke.
