Shawn Marceau says he's incredibly proud of his son and wants the world to know of his sacrifice and remember him.

Lance Corporal Jackson has lived in White Swan since age twelve and is Gila River Native American.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps less than two years ago and deployed to Afghanistan in March.

"He was my road dog. That was my best friend. Besides my little girl, that was my best friend. I lost my best friend", says Shawn Marceau, Jackson's father.

The Marine Corps reports that Lance Corporal Jackson's actions at the time of his death likely saved the lives of other marines.  His father says that does not surprise him because he was always looking out for others.

Lance Corporal Jackson comes from a long line of servicemen.  His father and grandfather were Marines and his great grandfather parachuted into Normandy during World War II.

LCPL Jackson is now a decorated war hero; he has been                                        awarded five medals including the Purple Heart
