Michael’s the greatest son, brother, uncle and friend. He always made us laugh and enjoy life to the fullest. Michael is the bravest person we know because he was never afraid to do the right thing, as well as inspire others to do the same. He loved the Navy and was very proud to be affiliated with the Marines. We’ve been told that Michael wore a marines uniform better than most Marines, and he was a sailor. He was committed to his country and felt great honor as he upheld the code of ethics. My son left home a boy and returned to us as a great man.
We love you more than anything. Miss you more than anything. Always remember that you are the fastest, strongest, smartest and bravest sailor the United States Navy has ever had. All our love!

Tomorrow marks the one year day without you. I don't like to call it an anniversary, because it is not a day to celebrate. All I can think about today is if you knew that something was going to happen. Did you know that you had only one day to live? I really do wonder if you knew, because the last time I ever talked to you all you wanted to know was if Brad was protecting me. When I told you that Raym and Jhiliman were always there for me, you seemed relieved that I still had men in my life protecting me. I thank you for all your years of protection, and I feel that you still protect and watch over me. You are the best brother God could have given me. You and Raym have made me who I am today. Thank you for being a positive male role model in my life. I love you so much Mike. My body feels numb like it did last year. I'm back to feeling like this didn't happen and you are in South Carolina. Tomorrow's going to be a hard day for many people, because you touched the lives of so many. You are my hero and I will never forget our memories together and all the times we had together. I will continue to share your life with my children and future grandchildren. Your life is one that should always be remembered, you weren't just anybody. You were my Mike, an amazing fun person who wasn't like anyone else. You were you and that's why you are so special. I LOVE YOU.

Hi Mike, it's your sister "scruffy". I can't explain in words the way I feel without you. I can't believe it has almost been one year without you in my life. After 9 months I still don't think it really happened and I still think if I leave you number in my phone you will call. At every family event I expect you to surprise me and tell us all it was a joke. Every time I look at Jauvan I soooo wish he could have met you. At times I can tell he knows you by the way he grabs your dog tag and the way he looks at your pictures, but I am scared that one day when he is bigger he will forget being in heaven with and seeing you when nobody else could. I love you so much Mike. I do look forward to sharing our stories with Jauvan and teaching the wonderful lessons you taught me. I can't believe our time together has been put on hault until I see you again in heaven. It was way to short. Thank you for always making me laugh and giving me the best memories ever. You are and will always be my best friend and HERO. I love you.

My dearest Michael. You are the best son a mother could ask for. You know how much I miss you and wish I could see you, touch you, and spend time with you. Nothing seems the same since you left us. I am constantly searching for that missing piece. I wish you, Raym, and Jen were little again outside playing in the creek and building forts. Those were truly the best days of my life. I want to thank you for always loving your family as if we were your best friends. I know not a lot of families are blessed with the unconditional love you gave us. I also want to thank you for constantly making us laugh. The crazy outfits you would dress up in just to see us all crack up! I thank you for the passion you had in your life, and how you always gave it your all! You were a passionate, loving person who never intentionally hurt anyone. I love to hear stories of pranks you were involved in. Brad told of the story of Charlie the stuffed monkey and how you both went to Goodwill, bought an old bike, duct taped Charlie to the seat, and let him go down a hill to freak people out. I am so glad you had that kind of gut wrenching laughter in your life. Not many people ever get to experience that. The time you have shared with your Marine/Navy family and the fun you had with them, I am thankful. I only wish I would have been able to go to Beaufort and spend time with all of you. I know how you loved your job, and were proud of the work you were doing on the jets. You worked so hard Michael, and I am so proud of you. I cannot wait until we can be together again. I want to sit and have you tell me stories of what you've been doing in heaven, just as you would tell stories of all your other adventures. You always had a story, and I am so thankful you wanted to share them with us. You know you will never be forgotten. I get so much enjoyment out of doing things for you, and continuing to honor you. You are truly my hero Michael, your time here on earth was cut too short, I think we'd all agree with that. Have I told you lately that you are the fastest, strongest, smartest, bravest sailor the United States Navy has ever had! All my love dear son of mine. Please come see me in my dreams. All my love, mom. xxxooo
