Aultz came from a close military family and was on his second tour of duty, said his sister, Tamra Aultz. His previous duty included missions to Kosovo and Bosnia, and once told her, "You know, I am just trying to do the best I can and keep people as safe as I can," she said. Aultz was based for the past 11 years in Germany and lived there with his wife and their 6-year-old daughter in the Bavarian town of Munnerstadt, his sister said. "He was a good person, and we are proud of him," she added. Services were planned in Germany.
